Description:

Becki Stephens is living the dream in a beach house along the coast of South Carolina. She spends her leisure time soaking up the sun on her boat, diving, and occasionally hunting sharks' teeth. One boating expedition leads to the discovery of more than sharks' teeth when she discovers a crate on the ocean floor. Unable to open the crate, she asks a friend to deposit the unopened crate on her deck; which he does. His kind is known to roam late at night, although Becki has no idea he is anything other than human. Since her Uncle is sure to be sleeping by the time the crate is delivered, she sends him a text requesting his help the next day. Uncle Kurt is deeply troubled by what he finds. The crate Becki recovered has strange symbols etched into the lid. He had seen similar markings during top-secret missions in the Middle-East. Kurt recognizes the origin of the handiwork and makes arrangements to remove the crate from Becki's home as soon as possible; vowing to shield her from whatever lurks inside. Royce St. John, Special Operations Team Leader, works for a Secret Council of Elders. “The Council” consists of both mortal and immortal members. Their primary function; to make sure humans continue to believe Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, and other mythical beings were just that, a myth. Chief Elder, Arimus, commissioned Royce and his team to recover a set of missing coins. The coins had originally belonged to Merlin, who “spelled” each of them centuries ago. The coins had eventually been stolen by Pierce Regan, a rogue warlock. Pierce then double-crossed the wrong immortal and met with a quite gruesome end. The coins became separated over the next hundred years and had fallen into circulation among the general population. Royce had successfully recovered the first coin in the set, and then things went terribly wrong. Witches! They had boxed him up like last year’s Christmas decorations and dumped the spelled crate into Charleston Harbor. Over the next two years the crate containing Royce’s unconscious molecularly altered body had moved with the currents and tides washing Royce and his crate out of the harbor. When Royce regains consciousness, he is trapped in a box, pissed, and two years behind schedule! He fumes as he waits, not so patiently, for the moon to trigger the crate’s unlocking sequence. He only hopes his body is fully restored by then, and that all of his parts are located in their proper places! Uncle Kurt was absolutely correct; the crate Becki had found did represent danger! The danger lurking inside would place her in situations that she would have never dreamed possible. Will Becki survive… will her family survive… will her heart survive? **
