14-year-old Victoria Slade suffers from serious Rapunzel-in-the-tower syndrome. It's the 22nd century, and she's stuck in one of the only convents left in Gracelia with a technology hating nun for an adoptive mother, a boy crazy 17-year-old for a sister, and a prayer cup full of questions about what goes on outside of the convent--she wouldn't know, she hardly ever gets to leave.

When important city officials begin dying under mysterious circumstances, to stave off boredom, Victoria begins her own investigation, starting in the city she's been kept from her entire life. Exploring the city opens Victoria's eyes to the world around her that she's been missing out on---food, technology, and to her (secret) relief, guys. When she discovers clues that lead her back to the place she suspected the least---the convent---Victoria finds herself drawn into a high-stakes deadly assassin group, The Other Sisterhood, which aims to completely revamp the political landscape.

And to make matters worse, for threatening to expose them, Victoria is forced to join The Other Sisterhood and help them carry out their biggest job yet---to assassinate the son of the sitting King.

It's a suicide mission, but as far as Victoria's concerned, she's not planning on dying anytime soon.
