Description:

Part science fiction thrill ride, part futuristic epic, Lovers of Babel takes readers on a riveting journey into a new world. Part one of this trilogy sets the scene for the future of our civilization once the world has nearly ended and less than half of the earth's inhabitants are able to leave their underground shelter after thirty years; only to discover that nothing is the same. Readers will find out that in the future, access to time travel is kept inside a wooden box, humans can teleport to distant lands, transform into creatures, or create anything they desire out of thin air.

After the apocalypse of 2112, the world was thrust into a new age. The former earth has transformed into cosmic Equinox, where the stars hang low and the moon is always on the horizon. A fraction of mankind was able to survive the apocalypse by living underground for thirty years. Those born after the destruction of the world possess powers that defy the laws of physics and human anatomy. Sage, daughter of Equinox leader Amias Riley, is a creator who is on a dangerous mission to discover the secrets of her world. With the help of her best friends Chad and Mia, she will escape beyond the barriers of her homeland to discover the hidden wisdom that has been kept in the shadows by her very own father. Just beyond the Equinox grid is an unfamiliar place called Providencia, where Sage and Chad will face challenges that will alter their perception of the truth of their lives. In the midst of their journey, they meet the young brute, Elliott, who causes Sage to question her beliefs.

### From the Author

I started this book not intending on it turning out the way it did. The writing process was a journey in itself. I had an outline in the beginning, but by the end, I was writing from pure imagination. With the help of my editor and my mom (who was reading bits and pieces as I wrote) I changed a handful of important plot elements like, how many powers there would be and the name of Sage's best friend. Now, instead of one power there are three and Connor is now Chad. I've made numerous edits of this book. What you're seeing now is the re-release super edited version of Lovers of Babel book one. It has been a long and tiring process, but I believe LOB is officially complete!

### About the Author

Valerie Walker was born in 1987 to parents, Joseph and Traci Walker. She was raised in Houston, Texas throughout her adolescence and then moved to Austin where she entered the University of Texas.  Throughout her childhood, her love for words grew. She is inspired by the works of Alice Walker and Langston Hughes and dreams of becoming a new black voice in the world of literature. Throughout her life, Valerie has written numerous poems that she identifies as true relics of her soul. She always attributes her growth as a poet to a poetry course that she took at university. Although her love for poetry will always remain a part of her life, Valerie has always stayed dedicated to narrative writing. Upon graduating with a degree in Multimedia Journalism, the idea for Valerie's first novel was conceived. After years of preparation and the help of her childhood friend Stephanie Arevalo, the first book in the Lovers of Babel trilogy is complete.
