With no money for college, the possibility of a track scholarship is the one hope on the horizon for 17-year old Jimmy Bodine. All he wants is to run – away from the lies at home and towards his only chance of a life.
When his manipulative stepmother sets him up to take the fall for a theft he did not commit, and his unyielding father does not believe him, Jimmy begins a search to clear his name. He discovers pieces of the past that could endanger more than just his future.
If you ever tried desperately to make something happen in your life and felt like the world was against you, this is the story for you.

### From the Author
The idea for this book came to me years ago when I was a teenager, driving in my Chevy and I passed a guy walking down the street. He was heading into the sunset and seemed confident but relaxed, focused on something just out of sight of the rest of the world, seeming completely content and motivated at the same time. That's what I wanted to be, independent, free of the world's b.s. I wrote poem describing him, but eventually it turned into a story.
The character of Allison was the hardest to write; I don't know why. I knew Jimmy's name, that he loved to run, that his brother played baseball but mysteriously gave it up, his parents were divorced and many other details about their lives. But Allison took some time; just as she holds back from Jimmy, she holds back from everyone, hiding a depth of emotion and more to her character.
I hope you enjoy finding out about them all as much as I did. I'm considering writing another book with many of the same characters because I like them so much. Maybe we'll follow Jimmy, Allison and Double A into their senior year; maybe Ritchie gets back into baseball. What else? We' see.
