### From the Author

I have long been concerned about the often misleading and over-hyped stories that appear on television and on the internet, and the way in which these reports shape public opinion. I wanted to write about what might go wrong when the media points its accusatory finger in the wrong direction. In *Endangered*, the public buys into an idea suggested by the media, politicians bow to public pressure, and only the revelation of the truth can stop the awful chain of events in Heritage National Monument.
