From Kanturk in County Cork, he has worked in the Health Services and has recently completed a PhD on the British Army in Ireland during the Irish War of Independence. This book is the final volume in a trilogy that includes British Voices (2005) and Fighting For Dublin (2007). His PhD thesis, A Hard Local War will be published by The Collins Press in 2010.
