### From Booklist
The latest from the author of Primrose Square (2012) is set in Depression-era Edinburgh. Beautiful Lindy Gillan lives in the Old Town tenements but dreams of the fun and romance found in her beloved Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films. Despite hard times, Lindy’s life is fairly pleasant—she works as a shop girl and part-time clothing model and has two handsome suitors. Neil is an aspiring writer from the neighborhood; Rod is a noble young man who works for the council managing a men’s hostel. When she and Neil decide they’re better off as friends, she and Rod grow closer, but just after their engagement, he decides to fight in the Spanish Civil War. Douglas’ heavy use of exposition makes this book less engrossing than it could be, and the love triangle ends up lackluster. However, fans of her previous novels will enjoy a similar sweet sense of romance that transports readers to another time. --Aleksandra Walker
