Have you ever felt so different and alienated from those around you that you would do anything to appear the same, even if you hated the way that they lived? Would you go so far as to drink human blood, wear grotesque fangs, and gold/black contacts just to conceal the life and brightness shining within your own blue eyes? Teenager Aecia is so isolated and desperate that she talks to her diary as though it was a real human friend. She wears neutraliser to conceal her human smell; whitener to deaden her pink and healthy human skin, and drinks the warm, thick life's-blood of another of her own species, just to go unnoticed and escape death at the hands of members of her own clan family! Aecia has not experienced the joy and freedom of a breezy summer day; has never had a picnic on the park, and watched the sun filter through the leaves of the trees onto her face. No; Aecia must live her life through the deep darkness of night; she must pretend to fear the glorious rays of the sun, and cower at the sound of the birds celebrating the dawn. Her traumatic and time-consuming theatrical performance every night of her life is simply because she is human, and must live in a sadistic vampire world. She is a throwback; a deformity, and a curious case of two members of the same species producing a different one! She is a cuckoo amongst her people. Walk with Aecia as she meets her first love. Feel her confusion as she dares to wonder if he is human too? Experience her terror when she finally uncovers the truth about her own origin, and finds that it is enough to shake the foundations of the cruel vampire regime forever!

### About the Author
Maria Bradley has worked at a variety of professions but has never released any of her writing for publication until November 2012. Her first book “Four’s a Crowd” was published in paperback and as an eBook on Amazon Kindle a couple of weeks later. She writes primarily for Teens and frequently states that her three young adult children are her inspiration. Although she is not primarily a poet, she has recently been placed as one of the runners up in a poetry competition with her poem ‘Manchester’; a cheerful rendition about her home town in England, and it’s appallingly wet weather. On 22 March 2013 she released her second Teen novel ‘Only Human’ in the spirit of the Twilight series and The Vampire Diaries. She is currently volunteering and writing the sequels to both novels full-time. In My Own Words: I'm an old fashioned writer and the words come easily to me if I write them on pen and paper before transferring them to the computer. I don't know if that is unusual but this digital world wasn't around when I was a girl (well, at least not in my house) and I'm comfortable with my bit of paper and sturdy old paper mate. The latest book is 'Only Human':Originally, a teen Ebook, now in print, for vampire novel enthusiasts. I wanted to write a story where the human girl was the outcast in a futuristic vampire-ruled world, as opposed to the other way around. Being a teenager is a rollercoaster adventure as it is (I remember) without the added complication of being flesh and blood, surrounded by immortals who would love to have you for dinner if they knew the truth. I'm a very shy Author and have only had 2 Teen/Young adult novels published so far. I have always scribbled ideas for novels and almost dared to let other people read them, but when you lack confidence it is a scary thing to show off your work. Now that I have, I could kick myself for not doing it sooner. Writing is amazing, it opens up your mind to so many possibilities and when I am in my work I feel like I am there with my characters. It's the same escapism I feel when I read a book. I only hope I can captivate the young people who read my work in the same way. If they are lost within the pages then I will have really achieved something.
