## Interview with the Author

**Q – What makes this story unique?**
A – I enjoyed fantasy and science fiction as a child, in both books and movies. From that foundation, my tastes expanded as I got older. I gravitated toward action & adventure stories, watched war & military films with my brothers, and eventually became fascinated by suspense thrillers with a political bent.

What I attempted to do with The Awakened was to craft a story that was epic in scale, combined all of my favorite genres and themes, and spanned worlds from ancient cultures to our own modern civilization. In short, I wrote the book that I wanted to read but couldn’t find.

And readers have responded! Many have expressed their enjoyment at finding a story unlike any other, yet one that is built upon themes we’ve all come to love. There is something for everyone in The Awakened.

**Q – What was the inspiration for The Awakened series?**
A – I’ve always been fascinated by the subject of angels and demons. As a religious person, I carried this metaphysical perspective into my study of myths and legends. And to my surprise, I found much common ground between it and the Greek & Roman gods, as well as the heroes and monsters of Norse and Viking mythology.

I wondered if one might have caused the other … if the myths could actually be true at their core. That’s when my imagination really took off. What I ended up with was a coming of age story about mankind’s greatest hero pitted against its worst enemies.

### About the Author

The third of four children and an introvert from the start, Jason Tesar grew up as an imaginative "middle child" who enjoyed the make-believe world as much as the real one, possibly more. From adolescence to adulthood, his imagination fed itself on a diet of books, movies, and art, all the while growing and maturing--waiting for its opportunity. Then, during a procession of monotonous, physically laborious day-jobs, his imagination leaped into motion, bringing together characters and locations of a world that would someday come to life on the pages of a book. In late 1998, Jason made his first attempt at writing, managing to complete a whole scene before returning once again to reality.
